First off let me say the new server seems to be running much faster, and thanks to all who have been helping to get us running faster and smoother.

I am still not receiving graphics, and once I leave the Luthiers Forum, I cannot receive graphics at any other website until I restart Explorer. Is anybody else still having this problem? If not, are there some browser settings I need to adjust now that we're on the new server, or is it just some bugs in the new system?

Thanks!

John

Hey John? Can you give me some background on your set up?

Machine type? (Mac/PC?)
OS?
Browser Types (IE, Mozilla, etc.?)
Broswer Version?

I have the same problem at home, but not from the office. I am trying to find out if this is a problem specific to certain browser software.

I think it is, but I would like to confirm that.

Same here, no graphics but it's much faster. IE, Win 98 at work. Win XP, IE 6.0 at home. Both systems don't see any graphics.

Yeah, this is going to turn out to be a browser issue I am sure.

Somehow I think the code that the editors are creating is not agreeing with certain problems.

You are not alone though... we live with this browser incombatibility issue every day. We spend LOTS of time hunting stuff like this.

I see the banner adds at the top of the page but just don't see any graphics when folks post them into their message.

Yeah, I see the same thing from home. You see most of the ads down to Robbie O'Brian's ad, right? No background, and no icons in the forum, right?

Try this... just for fun.

Navigate into the content of one of the posts. Copy the URL up in the Address header.

Close all of your browsers

Reopen a browser, and paste in the URL.

Now you can see the graphics, right?

Something is going on with the pages that have the graphic ads on them. I think it is HTML that is getting messed up with the editing tools (we had this problem before).... it is just a matter of isolating where it is coming from.

I think I put this in another thread already but it might be relevant here as well.

I am running XP Pro and IE 6.0 and am not seeing any of the problems reported here.

Just more info to help with the troubleshooting.

Yes, that worked. I can now see all of the graphics, forum icons and background is no longer white. Thanks for the help!

Brock, your pointer above worked as far as copying the URL. I am using XP with IE version 6.0. My computer at work displays everything properly, and it is Windows 2000 with the exact same version of IE.

Cheers!

John

Not to beat a dead horse, but can you give me the exact version number of your browser. For instance, I am running:

6.0.29000.xpsp_sp2_.rtm.040803-2158

I am kind of grasping at straws, but if I find there is a pattern to version number that will help a lot.

Thanks,
Brock.

Brock, just too add to your database of OS and browsers, I'm running Windows 2005 Media Edition. I've tried the forum in Netscape 7.2 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax)) and Internet Explorer (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158). I am having no problems with either browser. Hope this helps.

Brock,

Here's my full version number: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633

I'm going to go download the latest and see what happens. I'll let you know if it works.

Cheers!

John

Okay, I just went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the latest updates for Windows XP. There were a few updates, mostly security related, but once I completed the XP updates, everything works normal now, including all the graphics. For those of you still having graphics trouble, try downloading the latest operating system updates. It was about 17MB worth of files, but it worked. Go to this site:

Microsoft scan for updates

Click on the scan for updates and it will tell you what updates you require.

Good Luck!

John
